Slovakia’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed that it is working on other demands of the Medical Trade Union (LOZ), in addition to the issue of raising the salaries of health workers, TASR news agency has reported. The ministry declared that it is working intensively on systemic changes, the aim of which is to improve the quality of health care, create a motivating work environment and fair remuneration. Among other things, the ministry plans to secure medical faculties so that they can produce more high-quality Slovak doctors, or reform the education of young doctors. Last week, the head of the Medical Trade Union, Peter Visolajský, called on doctors to submit their resignations, pointing out that salary increases alone will not solve the problem in the health sector, and that there is a need to resolve other issues such as establishing order in the financing of hospitals.
