Head of the opposition Smer-SD party Robert Fico reported on Tuesday that he's set to meet with Economy Minister Richard Sulik (SaS) this week to discuss what measures the Government has in store for the public regarding inflation and energy prices. "The opposition must discuss these matters with those who are in charge of them because we're of the opinion that they aren't doing anything at all," remarked Fico, who also reiterated his view that the right move would be to impose taxes and monopolies and use the collected money to finance compensation schemes for specific companies and the public. According to Fico, Sulik has agreed to the meeting, but the exact day of the talks hasn't yet been determined. At the same time, the Smer chief announced that his party will hold a rally in Kosice on September 1 to protest against inflation and "government incompetence" and to support a snap general election.
