The state could help companies with high energy prices, similar to the way it paid First Aid during the pandemic. This is the proposal of employers who have come to the Tripartite demanding that the government address the energy crisis. According to estimates, the crisis is already threatening up to 10 thousand jobs in our country. The government is currently discussing how it will help households and companies to cope with the huge rise in energy prices. Employers and trade unionists are to come up with their proposals. The government does not want to compensate businesses and households for high energy prices through the so-called kurzarbeit, which means short-time working, but through some other scheme that is to be discussed. This was stated, among others, by Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Family Milan Krajniak after the meeting of the Economic and Social Council of the Slovak Republic on Monday. The minister pointed out that the social partners have not agreed on the Labour Ministry's proposal to radically reduce the fees to be paid by citizens to pension management companies. According to the president of the Republican Union of Employers, Miroslav Kiraľvarga, it is also necessary to address the high energy prices by adjusting the parameters in the Environmental Fund for the next 10 years. However, the Union also came with a new proposal: to reimburse a portion of energy expenses, similar to the way the state helped with revenue shortfalls during the covid pandemic. Germany has already approved such an aid scheme. The Tripartite discussed at Monday's session a report on the social situation of the Slovak population in 2021, as well as draft amendments on the social economy and social enterprises, on old-age pension savings, on the Fire and Rescue Corps, on the residence of foreigners, as well as draft amendments to the law on accounting, on income tax and on value-added tax.
