The President's Office on Monday launched a pilot summer school of climate leaders, with President Zuzana Caputova personally kicking off the event. The aim of the project is to support and develop the knowledge and abilities of university students interested in the field of climate protection and green transition. Twenty-five participants were selected from among the nearly 100 applicants. Efforts to mitigate the pace of climate change and cope with its consequences are a long-haul matter, according to the president. "In any case, the depth and complexity of the problem requires young, committed people to play a role in addressing it in the future," she said. The willingness of the participants to spend a week of their summer expanding their knowledge and skills is a source of optimism for her and gives her hope that mankind can do this together. The summer school programme consists of a series of lectures, excursions and workshops led by experts with professional experience in the field of climate change. The students will also address how to popularise green issues in Slovakia and will be given a chance to improve their argumentation and communication skills. At the same time, they'll meet with representatives of local governments, state administration and European institutions.
