Almost half of Slovaks do not save any money for their retirement, according to a survey published by Kariera.sk website. "Up to 47% of Slovaks conceded that they do not set aside any money for their retirement," stated website PR manager Katarína Tešla. More than half (53%) set aside surplus money, even if the sums are small. The average salaries of Slovaks are among the lowest in the EU, which is why 59% can set aside only less than €100 per month. About 22% of respondents save €100 per month and about 7% save €200. Only small groups of people in Slovakia can do better, with 5% saving €300-400 per month, and 7% more than €500.
The survey was carried out on a sample of 4,700 respondents.
