Milan Rastislav Štefánik airport in Bratislava processed a total of 753,424 travellers, both inbound and outbound, during the first seven months of 2022, airport PR specialist Veronika Hauswaldova has reported. In July alone, the airport took care of 256,447 passengers, which is the largest number since October 2019. Meanwhile, the number of take-offs and landings at the airport this year reached 14,244 to the end of July, with almost 3,000 flights taking place in July alone. In terms of final tourist destinations, the most popular in July were Antalya in Turkey, Burgas in Bulgaria and Hurghada in Egypt. Hauswaldova added that according to Airports Council International, an association of European airports, Slovakia was among the leading European countries with the sharpest increases in the number of travellers at airports in the first half of 2022 following Ireland and the UK.
