Independent MPs active in the far-right Republic party want to initiate a vote of no-confidence in Finance Minister Igor Matovic, TASR learnt on Tuesday. The party wants to collect signatures so that a special parliamentary session can be held in early September. Addressing the fact, largest opposition party, Smer-SD, head Robert Fico said on Wednesday that he's met representatives of Republic in connection with the planned referendum on a snap general election, adding that he also wants to approach them to discuss dismissing Matovic but hasn't done so yet. Independent MPs around Peter Pellegrini working in Voice-SD will deal with the initiative when it takes shape. According to party spokeswoman Patricia Medved Macikova, no one has yet approached them about this plan.
