The Opera of the Slovak National Theatre (SND) will open the new theatre season with a gala concert in honour of the late world opera legend Edita Gruberová. Slovak and world opera stars have accepted the invitation to perform. "The singer's long-time stage partner Francisco Araiza will also take to the stage, as will the star American soprano Brenda Rae, who regularly performs in the most prestigious opera houses, such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and Covent Garden in London." Jana Alexová from the Communication and Business Department of the Slovak National Theatre told TASR press agency. The Edita Gruberová Tribute Gala Concert, which will inaugurate the theatre's 103rd season, will take place on 10 September. Among Slovak opera stars, the audience will see for the first time ever on the stage of the Slovak National Theatre soprano Slávka Zámečníková, as well as Simona Šaturová, Ľubica Vargicová and Pavel Bršlík. "Slovak coloratura sopranos Martina Masaryková, Mariana Sajko and Andrea Vizvári will also be present. Kevin Rhodes, the new chief conductor of the Slovak National Theatre Opera, will conduct," announces the organiser of the event, which will be accompanied by the La Gruberová exhibition in the foyer of the Opera and Ballet.
