Slovak firefighters have been fighting a fire in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park of the Czech Republic for the ninth day, the Slovak Firefighter and Rescue Corps reported on Thursday. In order to increase the efficiency of the firefighting, an air-drop of firefighters from a helicopter into inaccessible terrain was planned on Thursday. However, this manoeuvre was not carried out due to unfavourable weather conditions. According to the firefighters, due to the ongoing need for a Slovak team at the fire site, the firefighters will be replaced by another group on Saturday. "We were asked by the Czech side for a fourth fireflex pumpkin tank, which will be brought to the location by alternating firefighters. These tanks have proved to be very effective in fighting fires. They were all set up and operated by Slovak firefighters," they said.
