Bratislava Regional Court confirms Blaha interfered with President's rights

The Regional Court in Bratislava has fully confirmed that MP Ľuboš Blaha (Smer-SD) illegally interfered with the rights of President Zuzana Čaputová. He is obliged to refrain from further verbal attacks and dissemination of false information. It is no longer possible to appeal against this decision. TASR was informed of this by the Director of the Communication Department of the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic, Jozef Matej. In the past, Blaha repeatedly claimed that the President is a lackey of the United States and an agent of foreign powers, and accused her of treason until the Bratislava District Court I ordered him to delete the offending Facebook posts. Blaha perceives the court decision as evidence that the head of state is incapable of handling even "basic political criticism". "But truth cannot be silenced," he said, adding that the President's attack on the opposition's freedom of speech is "narrow-minded and childish". President Zuzana Caputova has noted in the past that the verbal attacks were all the more serious because they weren't based on facts and, even as a public figure, she is not obliged to deal with constant public bullying and baseless public accusations of criminal offence.
