The Studia Academica Slovaca Summer School of Slovak Language and Culture has welcomed 116 foreigners from 24 countries and ten Ukrainian participants. This is the 58th year of the programme and again it offers not only distance learning but also a full-time form of study. It will continue until 12 August. The educational programme with lectures also offers cultural events and excursions. "Students will get acquainted with the historical centre of the capital and the modern face of Bratislava. A tour of the sights of Trnava is planned, and an optional trip to Devín or Danubiana awaits them," stated Comenius University. Among the candidates for the summer school are mainly foreign students of Slovak or other Slavic languages who study at the lecturers' offices of foreign universities, as well as people working in the field of translation, culture, management, foreign language teaching and descendants of compatriots living abroad. The preparatory language course will be attended by ten Ukrainian applicants for study at the Faculty of Arts at Comenius University in Bratislava, with the status of temporary refuge.
