Appointment of the new director general of RTVS

Ľuboš Machaj has replaced Jaroslav Rezník as the Director General of public-service broadcaster RTVS. After his arrival, he said, he wants to become acquainted with the basic contractual relations, get an overview of the agreed formats, and also address personnel issues. He is also bringing new colleagues into the management. Vincent Štofaník will be the programme director of television, Ľuboš Černák will be the radio director and Mária Hlucháňová will take the position of the head of news. Daniela Vašinová has been chosen as the head of economics and Matúš Miklošík will be the head of his office. The new director general is also expected to be under discussion at the Ministry of Culture in the next few days, in connection with the new law on media services, which came into force on 1 August and imposes new obligations on RTVS. Machaj was born in 1954. After graduating from the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University, where he studied at the Department of Aesthetic Education and Slovak, he joined Czechoslovak Radio in Bratislava in 1978. He was also the director of Bibiana, an international art house for children in Bratislava, and co-founded the first commercial radio station, Radio Twist, where he held the post of programme director. He has continued to work at RTVS in various positions since 2011.
