European Commission makes first payment of €398.7 million to Slovakia

On Friday, the European Commission (EC) made the first payment of €398.7 million to Slovakia under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). The payment is performance-based and depends on Slovakia's implementation of the investments and reforms outlined in its plan, which covers 14 sub-milestones that were a condition for the first instalment. The milestones relate to the reform of the justice system, higher education, the fiscal framework, energy, sustainable mobility, the fight against corruption, the digitisation of the public sector, as well as Slovakia's audit and control system for the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. As part of the Plan, Slovakia should altogether receive €6.3 billion.
