The Union of Pensioners in Slovakia (JDS) is launching a petition to collect signatures in order to advocate for help for the elderly. Its demands include an extraordinary pension indexation of 8 percent as soon as possible, as well as the payment of 14th pensions in November. According to JDS chairman Michal Kotian, the organisation wants the demands to be dealt with by Parliament as early as in September. The union wants to push for an extraordinary indexation by the end of this year, the payment of a 14th pension in November, the unfreezing of minimum pensions, an increase in the state allowance for rehabilitation and treatment stays for seniors from the current €50 to €100 and zero additional payments for all medicines for all seniors.
