OLaNO MP leaves caucus citing a shift toward ultra-conservatism

OLaNO MP Juraj Krupa reported on a social network on Thursday 28 July that he's leaving the OLaNO caucus, explaining that he has reservations towards what he perceives as a shift in OLaNO's values and the party's leaning towards ultra-conservatism. Krupa claimed in the post that OLaNO in 2022 is no longer the same party it was in 2020. "A party that presented itself as tolerant of different currents of opinion has become ultra-conservative," wrote the MP. Instead of engaging in the anti-corruption agenda, he claimed, OLaNO MPs have been "flirting with the idea of cooperating with extremists" and accepting the possibility of forming a minority government with the ad hoc support of various "criminals, extremists and fascists". Remaining within the caucus under these conditions is a "red line" that he "can’t cross", he said. On the following day, Friday 29 July, Krupna announced that he is joining the Freedom and Solidarity party (SaS). In response to Krupna’s departure, OLANO caucus chair Michal Šipoš stated on Thursday that the party is saddened by the manner in which the MP chose to leave its caucus. "To leave without saying goodbye to people who were attempting to help him for years is not quite fair. At any rate, we wish him all the best," commented Šipoš.
