Interior Minister Roman Mikulec (OĽANO) has appealed to fans not to mistake Wednesday's (July 27) football match between Slovan Bratislava and Ferencváros Budapest for a fighting ring. "I call on everyone to observe decent behavior and the instructions of the Police Force," he added. At the same time, he asked people to respect certain restrictions in this regard. He reminded that the police are preparing security measures and will take into account the observance of public order, as well as the flow of road traffic. "The police are preparing responsibly for the match in order to maintain order in the streets. The goal is primarily to protect people's lives and health and ensure public order," he said. The police warned that they will adequately respond to violations of public order and road traffic restrictions caused by fans of both clubs and will use all legal options to achieve redress. "In this way, we also ask citizens to respect any instructions and calls of the police during the security measure and to be considerate of other citizens," the police noted on the social network. Thirty years ago, when the same two teams met in a match in Bratislava in 1992, a massive police raid took place inside the stadium against rioting fans.
