Meeting of Slovak and British Defence Ministers

Slovak Minister of Defence Jaroslav Naď has held talks with British Minister of Defence Ben Wallace in Bratislava, with the topic of the debate being cooperation between Slovakia and Britain in the field of defence, as well as aid for Ukraine. This is the first visit of a British Defence Minister to Slovakia in 21 years. Naď noted that they also discussed the conclusions of the recent NATO summit in Madrid, including the new concept and bolstering of the Alliance's eastern flank. "Ben Wallace asked how the establishment of [the NATO multinational battlegroup in Slovakia] is going and we discussed how the UK could potentially contribute to developing this force," Naď said, adding that British soldiers are part of the NATO Force Integration Unit in Bratislava. Wallace praised Slovakia's aid to Ukraine so far and expressed his support for Bratislava. "We are trying to send a message that we stand united," he said, confirming that he and Naď also discussed the strength of forces the UK could send to Slovakia.
