New service to automate birth registration

Slovak Investment Minister Veronika Remisova reported on Monday that parents will no longer have to go to the authorities in person to get a birth certificate or birth allowances for their newborns. Slovakia is introducing a new state service that will take care of these matters for parents automatically. According to Remisova, the automation of the process required the cooperation of four different ministries, namely those of Health, Interior, Labour and Investment. In addition, this won't be the only proactive state service of this kind, as further processes accompanying other life situations, such as losing or finding a job, buying or transferring a car, buying a piece of real estate and starting a business, for instance, will be also gradually automated. Prime Minister Eduard Heger commented on Facebook: "We have eliminated another piece of red-tape nonsense that made life difficult for parents after the birth of a child," the prime minister wrote, thanking the ministries that took care of the automated process for "a job well done, one that brings Slovakia closer to being a modern 21st century country".
