The We are Family movement plans to submit a draft constitutional law that would allow a shortening of the parliamentary term. This was confirmed on Monday by the head of the Ministry of Labour Milan Krajniak. The submission of the proposal was announced earlier by the head of the movement and the President of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Boris Kollár. The For the People party has said they will not agree to the move. Krajniak stressed that the legislative proposal would not automatically shorten the electoral period. It will only create a legal framework for the shortening of the parliamentary term in the future. Kollár announced at the end of June that he would submit a proposal by 25 August. He also said at the time that the We are Family party would support such a law even if it was tabled by the opposition. In June, Richard Raši, an MP and deputy chairman of the opposition Voice-SD party, responded that Kollár had not supported such a proposal in the past.
