Slovakia is in the last stage of talks with Germany on replacements for its T-72 tanks which it could donate to Ukraine, Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad reported on Monday, adding that Bratislava could receive German-produced Leopard tanks in return. "We're still looking for answers on what we should do next with military equipment we know we'll never use, while Ukraine would find it very useful," said Nad, mentioning also other Soviet-era equipment at Slovakia's disposal, such as BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles and Igla and Kup missile systems. On this note, the minister pointed to maintenance issues in light of the war in Ukraine and related sanctions, as well as the need to replace old equipment with technology used in NATO.
