The Interior Ministry will procure two helicopters worth €29 million for the police and paramedics, respectively. The Government greenlighted the contracts on Wednesday. The reason for the replacement are problems with maintaining and operating Mi-171 helicopters with respect to the situation in Ukraine. The ministry will buy two Leonardo style helicopters from British and Lichtenstein companies, with the training of pilots included in the sum. "Due to time constraints in the wake of the aforementioned circumstances, organising a public tender wasn't possible," stated the ministry, which opted to reach out to the companies directly.
