The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute issued a third-degree alert against heatwaves for Thursday (July 21). Temperatures in most of western Slovakia and in some southern districts of central Slovakia were to climb to 38-39 degrees Celsius. However, people were warned to expect high temperatures throughout the whole country. The third-degree warning applied to the whole of the Bratislava, Trnava and Nitra regions, most of Banska Bystrica region and some districts of the Trencin region.
