The Slovak Government has declared a state of emergency in the Roznava, Revuca and Rimavska Sobota districts over the state of the Slana River, which has been heavily polluted by underground mine waters since February. The Government made the decision at its session on Wednesday. The Slana River has been discoloured red since mid-February due to leakage of underground water from the iron ore mine located at the site of a former mining company.
