The Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic and Minister of Investment, Veronika Remišová, signed an agreement in Brussels on Monday on the use of EU funds until 2027. The partnership agreement between the European Commission and Slovakia forms a basis for the option to use EU funds. Veronika Remišová said that up to €13 billion will be used for more efficient and transparent solutions, with part of this to be used to fight climate change and for the energy and strategic security of Slovakia. EU resources are also to be used for quality education, science and innovation, and better paid jobs. Remisova also perceives one of the benefits to be a transfer of power in these areas from the Government to regions and municipalities. She also stressed that although Slovakia has been drawing on EU funds for 14 years, there are still more than 400 locations without drinking water, railways in a bad state, and an incomplete highway. She added that the EU funds should also be used to eliminate these shortcomings.
