The Q-vent mini respiratory support device developed by Slovak scientists is helping in Kenya, Africa. It was delivered there as part of a humanitarian mission supported by the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation – SlovakAid. One of the inventors of the device, Samuel Furka, said that its benefits should be felt especially in those countries where the health care is not so well developed. It is also usable out in the field, where the conditions of a classic hospital room are not available. Countries such as the United States, the Czech Republic, Portugal, India, Brazil and Australia were also interested in the equipment. The ventilator was developed at the start of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, in response to an increased need for lung ventilators. The device was printed on a 3D printer. The project also uses artificial intelligence to provide safety management.
