A second case of monkeypox was confirmed by laboratories in Slovakia. The person with the disease is middle-aged, isolated and without the need of hospitalisation so far. No relation to the first case has been discovered. "The person sought medical aid and, in light of symptoms indicative of monkeypox, had a sample of biological material taken for a laboratory analysis, which confirmed the diagnosis," TASR learnt from Public Health Authority spokesperson Dasa Rackova on Thursday. The office expects the number of cases in Slovakia to increase in the future, although not to an epidemic level.
