Slovak Environment Minister Ján Budaj said that Russia is very likely committing war crimes in Ukraine, including in the environmental sphere. He said this at Wednesday's meeting of the heads of the environment ministries of the European Union member states in Prague. He offered to provide Ukraine with Slovak experts in the field of environmental impact assessment. Budaj wrote on social media that the Ukrainian government had documented more than 250 specific environmental violations, including the destruction of national parks, the mining of lakes and the burning of more than three million hectares of forest. Environment ministers from European Union member states also discussed biodiversity and adaptation to climate change in Prague, with talks continuing on Thursday (14 July).
