Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korčok says it is unacceptable that the whole world, and Africa in particular, should suffer the consequences of Russia's aggression in Ukraine in the form of food shortages. His statement was given in Budapest on Wednesday at a meeting with his counterparts from Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovenia within the Central 5 (C5) group. The head of Slovak diplomacy once again called on Russia to stop blocking the export of Ukrainian wheat to world markets. In addition to the war in Ukraine and its impact on energy and food security, C5 foreign ministers also discussed the priorities of the Czech presidency in the Council of the European Union (EU) in the field of foreign policy and the expansion of the EU. The meeting was held within the C5 informal grouping, which associates Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia. The group was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but today it serves as a platform for discussing other current topics as well.
