Health service advertises most for nursing jobs

Employers engaged in health care advertised this year mainly in an effort to find more nurses, with most offers being published in Bratislava region, said Nikola Richterová of the job website Profesia.sk. “The outflow of health-care staff is caused by various factors, one of them being low pay as reported in the media," said Richterová. The average basic pay of a doctor in Slovakia is €2,027 (without bonuses), according to data published on the website Platy.sk. The wage of a nurse is lower, averaging €1,010 (without bonuses). The basic pays of these two professions are higher in other countries, such as the Czech Republic. A nurse in the Czech Republic monthly earns €1,256, while a doctor earns some €2,221.

From the beginning of the year to 14 June, employers published 4,101 job offers in the fields of health and social care on the job website. The largest number of offered jobs, about 30 percent or almost 1,200 were for nurses. Health care facilities also advertised about a thousand positions for doctors, and more than 200 for care workers, social workers and dentists. Applicants for jobs in health care on the website are mainly interested in working as rescue workers with an average of 24 people responding to each job offer.
