3 of 4 Slovaks in favour of supporting renewable energy sources

More than 75% of Slovaks concur that the climate change is currently underway, with two-thirds perceiving its impacts in their everyday lives, indicates a survey conducted by Masaryk University's Faculty of Social Studies in Brno and the 2050 Institute. The results revealed that more than 75% of Slovaks view favourably the economic support for renewable sources of energy, thermal cladding of buildings, construction of energy-efficient buildings and elements for water retention in the country. Moreover, approximately one third of adults harbour concerns over the consequences of climate change. About 75% of Slovaks wish for industrial companies, businesses, the Government, politicians and mayors to take a more active involvement in the climate protection.

"Among these are mostly potential voters of Ordinary People party, Freedom and Solidarity, We Are Family, Voice-SD, Christian Democratic Movement, For the People and Progressive Slovakia," stated Institute 2050 director and environmental psychologist Jan Krajhanzl.
The survey was carried out on a sample of 1,934 people.
