Village in Kosice region declares state of emergency over lack of water

The village of Paca declared a state of emergency on Tuesday over the lack of potable water for its inhabitants, as local water reservoirs are almost empty and must be supplied by tank trucks, TASR was told by village mayor Ladislav Zagiba on the same day. Water has been supplied by trucks for the second day. According to the mayor, the springs feeding the local water pipes have dried up. "The situation is catastrophic. It hasn't rained for months; there's no source of water anywhere," claimed Zagiba. The village authorities urge the inhabitants to save drinking water and restrict the watering of gardens and the filling of pools.
