Slovak President Andrej Kiska wants to change the country through his authority and strong mandate. He was interviewed on stage at Slovakia’s biggest open air festival Pohoda at Trenčín airport gaining cheers as he was speaking to thousands of enthusiastic festival goers.
“As long as the president has support and trust of the people and if also the government is aware of it, then it listens to him. He can say, this is bad and please, change it, and if they do not change it, the president is entitled to say, it is a bad step,” Kiska said on Thursday during a discussion with Pohoda visitors in the tent of the European Commission Representation to Slovakia EUropa stage. He added that if the government perceives the voice of the citizens then his words can help change for example bad laws. However it will be clear maybe just in a year whether he will really succeed in it, said the president.
