The Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award has been granted to 116 young people from Slovakia. They received the award on Monday, at the Primate's Palace in Bratislava, from British Ambassador Nigel Baker. During the ceremony, he praised their hard work. "Together you have given over 6,000 hours of volunteer work for your communities, developing your talents." Among the honourees, Martin from Nové Zámky became a shepherd, in a shepherd's hut below Veľká Fatra, as part of the program. Simon, who has represented Slovakia at the UN since autumn of last year, also received an award. He worked with Greta Thunberg during the Youth4Climate conference to develop a youth climate manifesto. The Duke of Edinburgh International Award is a development programme. It gives young people aged 14 to 24 the chance to develop their skills and character, fulfil their potential and help them succeed in life.
