More than three-quarters of respondents to the Focus poll are in favour of abolishing immunity from detention. This is because parliamentary consent is required to take an MP into custody. Respondents were asked whether MPs should have this type of immunity.
Up to 77% of people are in favour of abolishing custodial immunity for MPs in the Slovak Parliament. 16% of respondents would retain this immunity, indicated a poll conducted by the Focus agency. Moreover, 7% of respondents said they had no opinion on the matter.
The voters of Progressive Slovakia (80%), Hlas - Social Democracy (76%) and Sloboda a Solidarita (75%) are the most in favour of abolishing immunity from imprisonment. On the contrary, 26% of voters of the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities movement are in favour of maintaining immunity, as are the same percentage of voters of the Smer - Social Democracy party and 24% of voters of the far right Republic movement.
