The Slovak Education Sector Employees Trade Union (OZPSaV) does not consider a one-off contribution for state and public sector employees amounting to €500 to be a salary hike, but views it rather as a compensatory contribution, OZPSaV chairman Pavel Ondek said on Monday. He reacted to the proposal of Prime Minister Eduard Heger and Finance Minister Igor Matovič to pay a one-time contribution worth €500 per person to employees in the state and public administration in the current year. Such a package would cost €200 million.
PM Heger pointed out that this is a draft that is to be discussed next week with social partners, as a move beyond the framework of the higher-level collective agreement. The allowance does not apply to health professionals, soldiers and social services workers. "We are addressing these groups separately, we will present solutions in this case as well," assured the PM.
School trade unions still insist on a 10-percent increase in salaries for all employees in the education sector.
