Slovakia supports the negotiations between Palestine and Israel and welcomes initiatives that will result in two states for two nations. On Thursday, the head of Slovak diplomacy Ivan Korčok said this after talks with representatives of the Palestinian government (Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Ishtaiya and Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Maliki). According to the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the visit confirmed the importance Slovakia attaches to developments in the Middle East. At the meeting, the head of Slovak diplomacy informed his Palestinian counterpart of Slovakia's decision to increase its humanitarian contribution to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. The talks also focused on the conflict in Ukraine and its possible implications for the Middle East region.
