Slovakia will have to pay the former head of the investment group Penta Jaroslav Haščák almost 10 thousand euros (9750 euros), the European Court of Human Rights has decided. In 2012 and 2016 Haščák, one of the wealthiest Slovaks with property worth €1 billion, according to the Slovak edition of Forbes Magazine, filed three complaints over wiretapping carried out by the Slovak Information Service (SIS) related to the 'Gorilla' scandal. The court upheld a complaint from Haščák that his right to privacy had been violated, but dismissed the others, including claims of violations of the right to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence. Haščák had originally demanded €66,000 in damages. The first information about one of the biggest corruption cases in Slovakia called Gorilla was leaked to the public eleven years ago. The extensive document should have been created on the basis of wiretaps of the Slovak Information Service in a Bratislava apartment on Vazovova Street. Jaroslav Haščák used to meet there with the top representatives of the state. The topic of conversation was to be various commissions or bribes.
