President Zuzana Čaputová appointed four new university rectors. In her speech, she drew attention to the problem of the quality of higher education. "The discussion on the quality of higher education is still conditioned by the need to solve the most important problem, namely the problem of finances. Slovakia has not used the times of relative prosperity and security for a more fundamental correction," she said, adding that we are currently going through a period when our economy has been hit by two years of pandemics and now by Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. "Pressing issues of energy prices, food and housing affordability are coming to the fore," she said. However, she stressed that this problem should be addressed in the near future.
