The Defence Ministry faced a massive cyberattack on its website on the night from Thursday to Friday, Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad posted on a social network. He informed, however, that the attackers failed to gain any data thanks to the security measures taken by the Military Intelligence's Cyber Defence Centre. On Thursday, Nad participated in the regular meeting of NATO defence ministers in Brussels. There he stated that it is in our interest to assist Ukraine in all available ways and means and to help prevent the military conflict from spreading and gaining strength. Nad also attended a meeting with his counterparts from the Visegrad Four countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia), which was also attended by the British Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace. The meeting was dominated by current security issues, including the strengthened defence positions on the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance and the expectations of individual countries from the forthcoming NATO summit in Madrid.
During the meeting in Brussels, ministers assessed the activities of the outgoing Hungarian presidency of the V4 in the field of defence. As Slovakia is to take over the rotating presidency of the Visegrad Group from July 1, Nad presented to his partners the defence priorities of the Slovak presidency, mentioning in particular the expansion of V4 cooperation with Ukraine, joint training and exercises, and deepening cooperation of defence industries.
