Parliament head visits Azerbaijan for talks on gas supplies

Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollar and other representatives of the Slovak Parliament have paid an official visit to Azerbaijan at the invitation of Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Qafarova, TASR has learnt. The Slovak delegation arrived in Azerbaijan on Friday (June 10) evening. Kollar then held an informal meeting with Qafarova. The delegation also visited Nagorno-Karabakh, a region troubled by military conflict in the past, including the town of Shusha. Near Fuzuli airport, the MPs familiarised themselves with the work of Slovak Bozena minesweepers and localities that might be considered for a Slovak project involving the building of a so-called smart village. In Baku, they visited the Roman Catholic prefecture, where they met with Bishop Vladimir Fekete and Slovak Salesians operating in Azerbaijan. Confirmation of open and trouble-free bilateral relations, with an emphasis on a greater expansion of trade and economic cooperation was high on the agenda of the official talks.
