Trade unionists criticise government for lack of communication

The extraordinary meeting between the Economic and Social Council of the Slovak Republic and Prime Minister Eduard Heger ended in contradiction. However, the Prime Minister stressed that the government is interested in social dialogue. Employers and social partners have long called on the state for a joint discussion. The partners – which consist of the government, trade unionists, employers and municipalities – have realised that they had a communication problem. Monika Uhlerová of the Confederation of Trade Unions says that they have been ignored in many key decisions over the past two years. Prime Minister Eduard Heger also plans to improve the exchange of information between the partners. According to him, communication between the partners and ministries needs to be improved. Therefore, Heger promised that he would regularly participate in Economic and Social Council meetings in the coming months. According to the social partners, the next few weeks will show whether the government will not leave them out of the discussion again.
