Hearing for candidates for RTVS chief lasts over 11 hours

The hearing held for candidates for director of RTVS lasted more than 11 hours. Eight candidates presented their projects for the management and development of RTVS at Monday's public hearing. Those asked the most questions by MPs were Tibor Buza, Ivan Golian and the current director Jaroslav Reznik. The advisory commission is expected to present its opinion on the election and the individual candidates to the media committee on Tuesday. Then, on Wednesday, the committee is due to submit its proposal for the election of the RTVS director to Parliament. According to a member of the expert commission, Petr Dvorak, director general of Czech Television, the public hearing of the candidates was challenging but interesting. "There were really interesting projects, a lot of inspiring ideas. I think that the members of the National Council of the Slovak Republic have a difficult task ahead of them to choose a new head of RTVS." Parliament is due to elect the RTVS director general on 22 June, with a possible second round scheduled for 29 June. According to statements from the coalition, the election is to be public.
