Defence Ministry suggests procuring tracked vehicles from Sweden

The Defence Ministry suggests buying tracked combat vehicles from Sweden. According to an evaluation of bids submitted by the ministry for fast-track inter-departmental review, the Swedish bid involving CV9030 and CV9035 vehicles manufactured by BAE Hagglunds AB meets the Slovak Army's requirements best. The ministry is due to submit the evaluation of the bids sent in the tender for 152 tracked vehicles to the Government by the end of June. The cost of the 152 tracked vehicles' procurement (including drive simulators) should range between €1.5 billion and €1.6 billion, depending on the selected variant. The ministry points to the fact that the sum does not include training, logistics support, spare parts, ammunition and infrastructure costs.
The ministry invited 33 countries to submit bids as part of the procurement. It has received five bids from four countries. Poland eventually was not shortlisted. The public procurement procedure will be concluded with signing of an agreement at the government-to-government level. This is scheduled for the end of 2022.
