Slovakia's foreign trade balance in April notched up a deficit of €503.3 million, the Statistics Office has reported, adding that the trade surplus in machinery and transport equipment was zeroed out by the trade deficit in mineral fuels. According to preliminary results, €7.7 billion worth of goods were exported from Slovakia in April, with year-on-year growth of 5.5 percent. Export growth continued for the sixth consecutive month, supported mainly by higher year-on-year exports of market products, which include the products of several major Slovak industries such as metal processing, metallurgy, rubber, but also increased exports of oil products. Imports of goods into Slovakia jumped by 14.5 percent to €8.2 billion.
