The governor of the National Bank of Slovakia and former Minister of Finance - Peter Kažimír, is no longer accused of corruption. The decision was made by First Deputy Prosecutor General Jozef Kandera. He stressed that the charges were brought on the basis of the testimony of only one claimant of the guilty plea, namely the ex-chief of the financial administration František Imrecze. The Deputy Prosecutor General pointed out inconsistencies in his allegations and added that the legal conditions for bringing charges had not been met. Peter Kazimir was charged with bribery in October 2021. Shortly afterwards, he filed a complaint against him in order to clear his name, but special prosecutor Daniel Lipsic rejected the motion. Now that the charges have been dropped, the special prosecutor's office is expected to take up the case again.
