Slovakia should save energy in the volume of 8,700 TJ (terajoules) within three years thanks to conservation measures, in line with the new action plan for energy efficiency for the period 2014 – 2016. Slovakia should also conserve within saving of primary energy sources namely over 16,000 TJ.
The Environment Ministry plans to achieve energy saving primarily in buildings, industry and the public sector, later it plans to start energy saving measures also in transportation and in household appliances. The Cabinet approved this on Wednesday, setting aside more than €8 billion for this action plan. So far, Slovakia has not been able to fulfil its aims in energy savings. Last year, it saved 6,700 terajoules of energy while the aim was set at 2000 more.
