Finance Minister Igor Matovič will submit a proposal for a ten per cent increase in salaries in the education sector at Wednesday's cabinet meeting. He will also submit this along with a proposal to tax gambling, alcohol, and Russian oil, and to increase regulated levies. He said this after Monday's meeting with representatives of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers in Slovakia. If the proposal goes through with the required ten per cent pay rise for education staff from July, the unions will demand a tripartite agreement. Meanwhile, President Zuzana Čaputová is deciding on a bill to increase benefits for families. She has until Wednesday to decide. She can either sign the social package worth more than a billion euros a year, return it to Parliament, or turn to the Constitutional Court to consider the controversial law.
