Prime Minister and EC President support integration process of Ukraine

Prime Minister Eduard Heger and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen agree that Ukraine should be given the opportunity to join the European Union if it meets all the conditions for integration. The two leaders discussed the situation in Ukraine at a meeting on Thursday on the sidelines of the Globsec 2022 security conference in Bratislava.
"It's up to us how we help our Ukrainian friends. And it's up to them how quickly they'll carry out reforms," said von der Leyen. In this context, Heger emphasised that Slovakia is ready to help Ukraine and to share our own experience from the integration process. The Slovak premier also stressed that it is essential for Slovakia that Ukraine, as a neighbouring state, be a stable and prosperous country as soon as possible. "It'll be necessary to reconstruct Ukraine, which means a lot of investments and Slovakia as a neighbouring country shouldn't miss this opportunity," stressed the Slovak prime minister.
The head of the European Commission reiterated her thanks to Slovakia for the help and solidarity provided to Ukraine and the Ukrainians in difficult times. "You've opened your hearts and minds to Ukrainian refugees, history will never forget your solidarity," she said.
