Container Town to Be Built for NATO Soldiers on Slovak territory

Slovakia will build a container town and a tent camp at Lest military training area and Sliac Airbase (both in the Banska Bystrica region) for members of foreign armed forces that have strengthened NATO's military presence in Slovakia in response to the war in Ukraine, with the Government approving these measures on Wednesday. The cost of the accommodation facilities is estimated at €31.4 million. The Defence Ministry specified in the proposal that the accommodation in containers and tents will provide a maximum capacity of 2,444 beds at Lest and 600 beds at Sliac Airbase. Following the Government meeting, Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad (OLaNO) stated that similar infrastructure will be built in other military areas in the coming months and years.
