Slovakia is interested in doctors and nurses from Ukraine, Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger wrote on a social network. He also pointed to the fact that Slovakia has a shortage of people working on these positions. "Training a doctor takes years and this problem cannot be solved from evening to morning. That's why I'm glad that the new legislative changes have allowed health professionals from Ukraine to find employment here more quickly. It is in our interest that they work permanently in Slovakia." said Heger.
During his working trip on Friday (May 27), Heger visited St. James Hospital in Bardejov (Presov region) in which 15 doctors from Ukraine work. Most of them have been serving there for several years and, according to the prime minister, they have adapted very well to our country thanks to the affinity of the language and culture.
The Government Office reported that following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a number of doctors and health-care professionals found refuge in Slovakia. However, they can perform medical or health-care practice in Slovakia only after fulfilling several conditions.
